LA students complain they get less for tuition

location LA campus

LA students couldn't help but feel that the departure of the liberal arts program to the new Malibu campus had resulted in a two-tiered system, with preference being given to the new campus. Their chief concern was that their tuition dollars were going to their peers across the bay.1

Inner View quoted the president of the LA student body complaining, "I feel that it is grossly unfair for L.A. tuition to be equal to Malibu, when the facilities are not equal." In response, executive vice president Howard White explained that tuition went to things like building maintenance and that costs were actually higher on the LA campus, where the buildings were older.1

The vice president for finance explained that tuition paid by students at the LA campus did not support the Malibu campus.
