Certificate of occupancy granted

date Monday, September 4, 1972

location Malibu

Following a three-hour inspection by officials from the LA County Department of Building and Safety and the county fire department, Pepperdine's new Malibu campus (as represented by president William Banowsky and provost Jerry Hudson) received its certificate of occupancy.1 It came right on time: students were due to move onto campus just two days later.

Many buildings were still under construction, including Stauffer Chapel and Firestone Fieldhouse, but the core academic buildings of central campus were ready, as were ten dorms and the cafeteria.
